The Bellville based, Maarman family, believes that education is the key to success and feels a deep sense of commitment to contributing to that success. Father, Rouaan Maarman, is a Professor and Deputy Dean in the Department of Education, his wife,Yolanda, recently completed her Masters in Educational Leadership and Management, and daughter, Rouelle, also recently completed her BA degree.
In April of 2026, not only did both mother and daughter graduate from the University of the Western Cape on the same day, but Rouaan was on the stage to place the graduation sash over the shoulders of his wife and daughter. Of the occasion, Rouaan says that he could not be prouder while Yolanda praises her husband for his support by both helping her with her studies and making coffee for her when she needed it.
Rouelle says that she is very excited with her first degree and is thankful for the support she got from her parents, especially when her studies got tough. Both mother and daughter, however, are not quite finished.
Yolanda is currently doing her PhD while Rouelle is enrolled for the Post Graduate Certificate in Education (PGCE) to qualify as a teacher.
