In April of 2026, 14 year old Lamicah Adamson wrote her name into the history books when she broke the under 15, South African 200m record at the National School Sport Championship.
The Mitchell’s Plain born and bred Lamicah will be taking it a step further when she travels to Europe where she will compete in the Celle Ligure Meeting on July 16th.
The competition, which will host the top young athletes from around the world, will be held in Italy but this will not be her only destination.
Lamicah will be one of 7 young South African athletes leaving for Europe to tour through Italy and France, as part of a developmental programme to introduce the athletes to not only international competition, but new cultures and traditions.
The tour, which is a collaboration between Western Cape Schools Athletics and World Wide Scholarships, has been described by Munya Maraire, the CEO of World Wide Sports, as being essential in developing and preparing these youngsters to become global athletes.
In addition to her record breaking time, Lamicah won her first 2 national championships at the age of 11, broke the Western Cape 100 meter record and tested herself against older competitors in the under 16 category of the South African Championships where she secured second place.
Lamicha and her teammates will be leaving for Italy on 12th of July where they will move on to France and return to South Africa on the 24th of July.
