After running a world leading, under 18 time of 10.37 seconds, Marlon Kayster had to go even faster while competing against the country’s finest.
Competing in the 100 meter sprint at the ASA Club Championships in Germiston on Friday, Marlon secured the gold medal win with an even faster time of 10.31 seconds.
He was followed closely by Qaude Matjan in second (10.40 seconds) and Ubay Arend in third (10.42).
Marlon’s time not only cemented his status as one of the fastest young sprinters on the planet but also qualified him to compete in the U20 World Championships which will be held in August in the US.
He also competed in the under 18 200m where he managed to secure the silver medal despite suffering from a groin injury.
Marlon is already gearing up for his next race which will be held in Rustenberg at the South African Schools Athletics.
