Dylan Calvert Takes Double Gold at National Primary Schools Champs

Last year, Dylan Calvert smashed an 18 year old record, becoming the fastest 80 meter, under 11 sprinter South Africa has ever seen.

This year is no different, with the youngster continuing to dominate at this past weekend’s 2026 SASA National Primary Schools Track and Field Championships.

Competing in the under 12 category, the grade 6 learner took home a double gold when he won both the  100 meter and 150 meter races.

This is, however, not his only 2026 double gold.

Earlier in the month, he competed at the Western Province Championships where he qualified for the national champs by once again taking home a double gold in the 100 and 150 meter races.

At the end of last year, while still competing in the under 11 category at the  Sub-Youth National Athletics Championships, he broke the 18 year old record with a time of 9.84 seconds.
