After recently having won both a gold medal and a bursary at Eskom’s 2025 Expo for Young Scientists, Gqeberha’s Luke Boswell is once again being awarded for his academic acumen.
He is one of 5 top performing grade 11 learners in Africa that has been selected to go on a trip to Antarctica, a trip that is worth R1 million.
The trip is part of the “Students in Antarctica” competition
The “Students in Antarctica” initiative aims to make young people more aware of environmental issues and empower them to make a tangible difference in their communities.
To become part of the top 5, learners are encouraged to enter the competition and demonstrate authenticity, analytical thinking, a willingness to learn, a love for their own communities and a desire to create positive change.
Luke and his fellow winners will first travel to Cape Town to prepare and be fully equipped with expedition gear after which they will fly to one of the most beautiful places on earth, Antarctica.
