Congratulations to the Eastern Cape’s Jared Arries for receiving his Doctorate in Civil Engineering from Stellenbosch University.
Jared’s PhD thesis focused on traffic and transportation engineering, or more specifically,he investigated how roundabout geometry affects the maximum attainable speed under low-traffic conditions.
Having only started studying in 2018 and graduating with his first Bachelors degree in 2021, the speed at which he achieved this academic milestone is fairly impressive.
It is even more impressive considering that this young guy started working his first job as an Engineering intern in 2020 and then as a Research Assistant at SANRAL in 2022, and now currently as a Postdoctoral Research Fellow at Stellenbosch University.
Last year, he won the award for Best Academic Paper at the 41st Southern African Transport Conference.
Right now, he is just focusing on expanding his PhD research as a Postdoctoral Research Fellow and hopefully, publishing a few more award winning papers.
