SA’s Grant Davids Becomes CEO of Malaysia Based MCIS Life

Having studied Actuarial Science in University, it was fairly certain that Grant Davids would become a success in life. As to how successful, that was up to him and he did not disappoint. 

In May of 2026, it was announced that Grant would become the Chief Executive Officer of the Malaysian based insurance company, MCIS Life. Grant’s job will be to ensure the growth and profitability of a company that already generates revenues of more than R2.5 billion with total assets of more than R20 billion. 

Now, to become a qualified Actuary takes years of hard work and Grant most certainly put in the work. 

After completing his Science Degree in Actuarial Studies in 2001 from the University of the Witwatersrand, he got a job as an Actuarial Assistant at the Liberty Group. He worked diligently for the next four years to become a Qualified Actuary, after which he became an Actuarial Analyst at Guardrisk and then an Equity Research Analyst at Nedbank, 

Once again, working diligently, he eventually got his first major corporate role in 2018 when ABSA hired him to become their Head of Financials Research. Two years later, Sanlam came knocking at his door, appointing him to the role Executive Head for Investor Relations.  Of course, 5 years later, he became the CEO of MCIS Life and t is worth noting that MCIS Life is majority owned and controlled by Sanlam. 

Of his appointment, Grant says that he looks “forward to building on the strong foundation already in place and shaping the future together”.
